This morning, we took full advantage of not having to share our room with anyone and slept until about 11:oo. We both showered (in the morning!) and decided to take advantage of our rental car and drive to Locarno on Lake Maggiore here in Switzerland. It was about a 45 minute drive. We got there and parked our car next to the train station. It was so rainy out! Our first order of business was to find some food. We found a buffet restaurant across the street from the train station. It was one of those where you grab a plate and heap however much you want to eat all on one plate. However, we had a hard time deciphering how much each thing cost, so once we got to the check out we were a little upset to find out how pricey our lunch was. We ate anyway then began wandering around the town. We found lots of little cute shops and did some window shopping. We stopped by one watch store and were able to get a new battery for Rachael's watch. It's been dying and then resurrecting itself on us for the past week or so but finally kicked the bucket earlier this week. Our mission today was to find some Swiss Army knives so we headed out to find those next. Sure enough, we found a nice little knife shop that even had free engraving. They had knives in every color and style you could imagine! Rachael got herself a Leatherman Squirt (it's a cute little multi-tool that fits on your keychain!) and Katie got herself a Swiss Army Knife, the Silver Tech Lite (it has a little LED light in it). After shopping for ourselves, we also got a couple of cool ones for our loved ones at home. We hope that they'll like them! We then did some more window shopping, bought a bottle of wine to bring home (that is, of course, if it doesn't weigh us down too much, otherwise it won't make it) then went to go walk around the lake. Once it started to rain again, we decided it was about time to head back to Lugano. We got back to Lugano and took care of some hosteling business, booked our hostels for the next week, checked train times then headed out to grab some dinner. We ended up back at the restaurant we had gone to last night. The owner recognized us and asked if we wanted the same thing but we decided to try his pasta instead. It hit the spot, it was exactly what we needed. Rachael got a spaghetti with meat sauce and Katie got a spaghetti with carbonara sauce and bacon. After dinner, we headed back to the hostel to blog and upload some pics. Our plan is to have all of the pictures we've taken uploaded to Snapfish in the next few days so that all you readers can check them out. Unfortunately, it takes about three forevers to upload photos 'round these parts, so we're doing the best we can. We check out of the hostel at 10am tomorrow, return our rental car, and then hightail it to Venice!
Ciao! XOXO K&R
